Session 1: Mental Health for International Students on March 18, 2026 at 4:00 PM
Moving to a new country can feel overwhelming. This session will explore mental health challenges unique to international students while sharing practical strategies and campus resources to support your well-being.
The first part of the series, will be delivered by Henry Luyombya from PEERS Alliance. Henry is a Courage Builder, Registered Social Worker, mental health professional, and community leader based in Prince Edward Island. He holds a Master of Clinical Social Work with specialization in mental health and health from the University of Toronto and brings nearly two decades of experience supporting immigrants, refugees, and international students from diverse backgrounds. Grounded in trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally responsive practice, Henry works at the intersection of mental health, equity, and community development. Through initiatives such as New African Canadians (NAC) and the annual Global Mental Well-being & Substance (Mis)Use Conference (GMWS) held each summer at UPEI, he helps build supportive communities where new Canadians and newcomers can develop resilience and thrive.
