Finance Officer - Faculty of Medicine
$94,860 to $105,196 per annum
UPEI is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient accounting, financial and budget analysis support for the Faculty of Medicine. This position collaborates closely with department heads, faculty members, and administrative staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget management.
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of the new Faculty of Medicine which has started as a regional campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and eventually an independently accredited UPEI medical doctor program, the inaugural class of 20 students started in August of 2025.
This position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, Faculty of Medicine and will work closely with the University’s Finance Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Budget oversight and management, including:
- Development of Faculty of Medicine’s annual operating budget
- Develop, monitor, and provide budget oversight for the Faculty of Medicine
- Provide detailed budget forecasts and financial planning
- Prepare detailed budget proposals and external reporting for restricted grants
- Provide training and support on the University’s budget management platform
Financial analysis with attention to details and deadlines, including:
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Evaluate financial performance
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and administrative staff
- Preparation of monthly and year-end reconciliations
QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA designation with Undergraduate degree in Business.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance or accounting.
Proven experience in budget management and financial reporting.
Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written
Advanced Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills
