The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, has an opening for a part-time sessional instructor of veterinary parasitology during the upcoming Winter 2026 semester.

VPM 1220 Parasitology (3 credits)
This is a required course in the first year of the DVM program.  The course presents principles of the life cycles, pathogenesis of infections, immunological responses, and epidemiology of animal parasites, including arthropods, protozoa, and helminths. Clinical applications relevant to veterinary medicine are discussed. 

The part-time sessional instructor will be responsible for covering the helminths section of the course (16 lectures) and 6 labs, corresponding to 1.5 credits.  

The part-time sessional instructor will be teaching two to three hours of lecture per week or two hours of lectures and two hours of laboratory per week (alternating each week), in person. 

Lectures: Monday 9:30 – 10:20 and 1:30 – 2:20 (every other week), Thursday 8:30 – 9:20
Labs: Monday 1:30 – 3:30 (every other week)

Qualifications: 
Applicants must hold an MSc or PhD in a field related to veterinary or comparative parasitology. Documented experience teaching similar courses and a DVM degree are assets. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty members of the Academic unit.
