Student Assistant - Department of Pathology and Microbiology - Atlantic Veterinary College
$16.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
May 5, 2025 to August 29, 2025
The Department of Pathology and Microbiology is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate summer student to join our laboratory at the Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Atlantic Veterinary College. As a Summer Student, they will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in molecular microbiology, contribute to ongoing projects in our laboratory, and develop new skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting with handling of bovine/poultry serum samples
- DNA cloning
- Plasmid DNA purification
- Gel electrophoresis
- Cell culture
- Westen blot and proper maintenance of experimental records
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a UPEI student
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a field related to life sciences
- Proficiency in all forms of communication
- Strong attention to detail
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
