Student Research Assistant - Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering
$16.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
June 9, 2025 – August 15, 2025
A student research assistant position (up to 35 hr/wk) is available for an undergraduate engineering student to work with Dr. Gaoliang Fang in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering on switched reluctance electric drive system. The student will work with Dr. Fang to perform simulation and analysis on switched reluctance electric drive system under limited sensor feedback information scenario.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The student will study fundamentals of switched reluctance machines (SRMs) and perform analysis on inverters used for SRMs
- The student will implement the simulation of current reconstruction schemes and perform analysis on the simulated results
- The student will prepare written and verbal research communications on a weekly basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good academic record and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Proficiency in interpersonal and written communication is required
- Experience in Sustainable Engineering is required
- Completed ENGN 2810 at UPEI, with a final grade of 80 or better
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
