International Relations Office
The International Relations Office (IRO) provides a wide range of services for international students, including immigration, Study and Stay, Homestay services and student events. The IRO also supports all UPEI students seeking exchange opportunities with UPEI’s international partner institutions; assists faculty with faculty-led short courses abroad; provides Canadian immigration policy guidance to the campus community; and assists with visiting delegations and international partners seeking short-term customized programs.
The office is the hub for campus internationalization efforts. Our goal is to promote international collaboration and scholarly exchanges to enrich UPEI students’ learning experiences and broaden the horizon of learning for the entire campus community.

International Student Advising and Policy Updates
Our professionally trained and licensed student advisors provide study permit and related immigration guidance and support. We also provide IRCC and other policy updates to help students stay informed of the rules and regulations. We connect with students before they arrive on campus and stay engaged and support their studies all the way throughout their academic study at UPEI.

Office of Study Abroad and International Partnerships (OSAIP)
The OSAIP has established strong partnerships with many institutions around the world to enable UPEI students to participate in exchange programs to study at a partner university or through faculty-led short courses abroad. We also welcome students from partner institutions to study at UPEI. This office also oversees the Government of Canada Scholarship programs such as ELAP, SEED, and SIC.

International Customized Program Office (ICPO)
Staff from the ICPO work with international partners to create primarily customized English (or other types of short-courses) programs for student cohorts from various countries. We also work with federal partners for the Explore Language Program for Francophone students, and the IRCC-funded Professional Communications Course for PEI Newcomers. We believe the short-term programs will enrich students’ experience not only in language training but also in better understanding of Canada. Also housed within the ICPO is the UPEI Homestay Program and Off-Campus Housing support for any UPEI student. Homestay offers you a safe, all-inclusive housing arrangement with a local host family. If students are looking to rent independently off-campus, we also provide services to support both international and domestic students in their housing search.

International Delegation Visits
UPEI receives many requests from around the world to visit our campus each year. In order to better accommodate official visitors we need to receive information about your proposed visit and goals at least six (6) weeks in advance, to assess your needs and determine the availability of appropriate people and facilities for your visit.

Study & Stay PEI Program
The Study & Stay PEI Program supports international students at the University of Prince Edward Island, Collège de l’Île, and Holland College who want to live, work, and stay on Prince Edward Island (PEI) after they graduate. International students in their final year of study can benefit from career support, immigration advice and cultural integration and volunteer activities. The program facilitates international student retention in line with the economic and social development goals of Prince Edward Island.

Student events and other activities
The International Relations Office makes great efforts to create a “Home-Away-From-Home” for all UPEI students. We believe academic, social, and cultural exchanges play crucial roles in student learning and growth. Throughout the academic year, we host a series of activities and events, and we welcome students, faculty, staff and community members to join the events and enjoy them.
