UPEI Health, Safety and Environment would like to remind supervisors to include OHS – Workplace Safety for Young Workers as part of the onboarding process for summer student employees.

Designed specifically for young workers on Prince Edward Island, this course recognizes that young and inexperienced workers are at a higher risk of workplace injury than more experienced employees. Through engaging content, participants learn about their health and safety rights and responsibilities, how to identify workplace hazards, and practical ways to control risks and work safely.

By completing this training early in their employment, summer students can develop the knowledge, confidence, and awareness needed to contribute to a safe workplace from day one. Making this course part of your onboarding process is a simple and effective way to support student success while reinforcing our commitment to health and safety.
