Introduction to Lean Management and Project Leadership
Overview: The Introduction to Lean Management and Project Leadership course from the University of Prince Edward Island’s Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development (OCEPD) provides participants with practical, applied knowledge in process improvement, Lean management, and project leadership.
Through five interactive modules, participants are introduced to Lean and Six Sigma principles using the DMAIC framework: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control.
The Introduction to Lean Management and Project Leadership course focuses on identifying inefficiencies, improving processes, supporting data-informed decision-making, and leading organizational improvement initiatives. Participants will explore practical tools related to stakeholder engagement, process mapping, root cause analysis, performance measurement, risk assessment, and change management.
Through applied exercises, collaborative discussions, and workplace-focused learning activities, participants will strengthen their ability to communicate recommendations, support continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to sustainable organizational change.
Designed for: Professionals seeking practical skills in process improvement, Lean management, and project leadership. It is well suited for supervisors, managers, coordinators, team leads, project staff, and individuals involved in operational improvement or continuous improvement initiatives within healthcare, public service, education, non-profit organizations, and service-based or operational environments.
