UPEI Master in Global Affairs celebrates student success

UPEI’s Master in Global Affairs program is celebrating the success of two of its students. Denis Gaudet worked for ten weeks this summer for the Secretariat of Social and Human Development in Oaxaca, Mexico. He led a qualitative research project on indigenous communities in the country’s third poorest municipality to understand the underlying causes of poverty. In addition to this work, Gaudet participated in local and international events exploring numerous communities and cities that were rich in Mexican and indigenous culture.
“This internship was a unique opportunity to understand how a ministry works internally, but more than that, I learned more about the Mexican political system, context, and challenges,” said Gaudet. “The hands-on experience allowed me to see first hand the daily struggles that come with living in a developing country.”
In September, Miriam Rosales began a one-year internship in the office of the European Ombudsman in Brussels. Rosales will be researching institutional relations and will be in contact with the following European institutions: Council of Europe, European Parliament, and Human Rights Court. Her duties will include assisting in the investigation of complaints, working with media and communications, and involvement in IT and research projects that directly correspond to the work of the Ombudsman.
Congratulations!
