Island entrepreneur credits UPEI with helping him realize his dream

Entrepreneur Matt Jelley graduated from UPEI in 2024 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, specializing in marketing. He is now the sole proprietor of Mobile Bicycle Services PEI, a unique door-to-door bike repair service, and credits his education and mentors throughout his time at UPEI with helping him realize his dream of becoming a business owner.

"Diversity and Social Justice Studies is unlike any program I had heard about."

What brought you to UPEI? Why did you choose to study here?

I grew up in a small city in central Alberta, called Wetaskiwin. We were once only known as the city with the worst crime rates in Canada. Coming to UPEI was a bit of a choice I made on a whim—I wanted out of Alberta, to experience other provinces and places. I had only ever lived in the same areas, with my family always close by. I wanted to be able to adventure out and experience other sides of Canada, and not just what I was familiar with.

Canadian Armed Forces Visit to Campus

The Canadian Armed Forces will have a display set up in the Robertson Library breezeway to offer information and opportunities for part-time careers that are available locally on Prince Edward Island. Some of the benefits they offer are competitive wages, full-time summer contracts to help pay for schooling, travel opportunities, flexible hours, medical/dental benefits, exciting experience, Canada-wide discounts, access to bursaries and scholarships, and a chance to be a junior leader in your field of choice.

No experience is required. They will train you!
