Anastasiya Missan, AVC Class of 2022, won first prize in the American Veterinary Medical History Society’s 2020 Fred Smithcors Veterinary History Essay Contest for her essay, “The Un-BEE-lievable History of Beekeeping.”

After an outstanding season leading the UPEI women’s basketball team to an AUS Championship and a U SPORTS bronze medal, Jenna Mae Ellsworth is up for yet another honour. The AUS Female Athlete of the Year is a nominee for the U SPORTS Female Athlete of the Year, and you can help get her there!

University of Prince Edward Island President and Vice-Chancellor Alaa Abd-El-Aziz issued a statement today on the passing of Saint Dunstan’s University alumnus and UPEI’s first Roman Catholic chaplain, the Reverend Gerard “Gerry” Tingley. Father Tingley passed away at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre in Charlottetown on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

The Government of Prince Edward Island announced the results of the 2020 PEI Book Awards this weekend, and three of the winning books have ties to the University of Prince Edward Island.

PEI writer Marian Bruce has been shortlisted for a 2020 Atlantic Book Award for her book Listening for the Dead Bells. Published by Island Studies Press, this collection of folklore about ghosts, witches, seers, and forerunners is one of three titles shortlisted for the Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for Historical Writing. The winners will be announced at the end of June.
