Associate Director of Clinical Experience - Psychology Candidate
The Department of Psychology is pleased to present the first candidate for the position of Faculty Member and Associate Director of Clinical Experience for UPEI’s new Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program. Each candidate will give two talks: the first is a simulated classroom presentation about their research and the second will outline their vision for the PsyD at UPEI.
Please join us on Tuesday, March 20 at 5:30, Dr. Raquel Hoersting will present her talk entitled "Cross-Cultural Mobility: Cultural Homelessness, Identity and Adaptation". The presentation will take place in HSB 106.
Movie Talks @ RL: My Depression: The Up and Down and Up of It
In support of UPEI Mental Health Week, Relationships Matter, Robertson Library is presenting My Depression: The Up and Down and Up of It in our Movie Talks series.
Join us for this entertaining but enlightening film on the symptoms, emotions, and side effects of depression. It will help you to understand someone suffering from depression a little bit better and those who suffer from depression will not feel so alone. A discussion/Q & A period will follow the film. Free popcorn. Everyone is welcome!
Staff & Faculty Brown Bag Lunch: Meet The Counselling Team
Faculty and staff are invited to come and meet the counsellors on campus during UPEI Mental Health Week 2018. This session provides you the opportunity to ask questions about counselling services, get to know the people who you are referring students to, find out what you can do to help students in need and ask any other questions you may have. Feel free to bring bring your lunch. Coffee and cookies will be kindly provided by Student Affairs.

MHW 2018: Art & Bullet Journalling
In this workshop we will introduce you to Bullet Journalling (a planning system) and art journalling as two platforms for helping you stay on top of your priorities, including your mental health. Bring any type/size notebook and a pen/pencil with you to the workshop so you can get started!

MHW 2018: How to Help a Friend
This interactive session discusses effective ways of communicating and supporting a friend who is in need. The session will be led by two UPEI students and a counsellor will be present to contribute to the session and offer support as needed. Light snacks will be kindly provided by the Office of the President.

The call for committee members went out in January and a resounding group of 30 creative and caring individuals came together from across campus to establish the working committee. We hope you enjoy the events we have organized this year and that you use every opportunity to come and celebrate together—relationships matter.

Info Booth, Ball Pit & Build a Quilt (Monday–Friday: W. A. Murphy Student Centre (MSC) Concourse 10 am–3 pm)
Drop by the Information Booth. Volunteers will be on hand to welcome you and pass along handouts and resources. While you’re there, take a minute to add a patch to the quilt to show the relationships that matter to you and hop in the ball pit—you just might make a new friend.
Info Booth & Ask a Counsellor (Monday–Friday: Robertson Library Breezeway, and AVC Foyer)
Stop by for information, tips, resources, and ways you can participate in the week’s events. Plus...Have a question about UPEI's counselling services but not sure who to ask? Ask a counsellor! During Mental Health Week, there will be a box in both the AVC and Robertson Library at the MHW info booths. Submit your question using one of these boxes, and it will be answered by a counsellor. Your question and answer will be posted anonymously on the wall behind the MHW info booths in both buildings.
Zen Zone
Relationships matter, and one of the most important relationships you will encounter in your lifetime is the one you have with yourself. The W.A. Murphy Student Centre (MSC) Day Lounge will be designated as the Zen Zone for Mental Health Week. This space will serve as an area for relaxation, reflection, and mindfulness. Open Monday to Friday from 10 am–3 pm, members of the campus community are invited to come into the Zen Zone and participate in quiet activities such as colouring, journaling, reading, and reflective thought.
MHW 2018: Keynote Address with Wil Gunning
Wil Gunning is the captain of a fishing enterprise, a local entrepreneur of two companies, a mentor for young adults, and a keynote speaker who travels throughout Canada sharing stories of his experience in the foster care system. Wil speaks about why he went into care and the life experiences which has shaped him into the person he is today. He will share how he navigated his childhood and the importance of building relationships with others and oneself. Light snacks and refreshments kindly provided by UPEI’s Healthy Campus Committee.
A Q&A with Wil Gunning will follow his keynote from 12:30–1:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
This informal session will provide the opportunity to come chat with Wil and explore his story further.

MHW 2018: Karma Yoga
The Karma Yoga class is held every Tuesday from 12:10–12:55 pm at UPEI Chaplaincy Centre. This program provides a full body strength and flexibility workout which tones the body. Long stretches will melt away stress and create a feeling of deep relaxation. Please bring your own mat and/or towel and water.
Fee: Fee for this class is a donation to the UPEI food bank—$5 or food donation.
