BMO NBA All-Star KidsFest at UPEI
As part of the nationwide NBA All-Star 2016 program that will bring the excitement of the NBA to 14 Canadian cities in 10 provinces from November through February, former NBA player Jerome Williams will interact with fans in Charlottetown as they participate in All-Star-themed events and basketball activities January 8-9, 2016.
The UPEI Panthers are proud to host the BMO NBA All-Star Kidsfest at the Chi Wan Young Sports Centre on Friday, January 8. The event will feature Jr. NBA Clinics and NBA Cares activities for all ages. A youth art program gives fans a chance to design a canvas that will be displayed during NBA All-Star 2016 in February in Toronto.
Another event taking place at UPEI during the Panther Women's and Men's Basketball home games on January 9 is the Bell NBA All-Star Challenge, presented by AIR MILES. The event is looking for the best three-point shooters, skills challenge competitors and dunkers in Charlottetown! The winner of the competition will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to compete for a national title at NBA All-Star 2016 in Toronto.
International Student Orientation
All new international and exchange students are invited and strongly encouraged to join us for ISO (International Student Orientation) on Saturday, Jan 9th, 2016 starting at 10:00 AM in Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) 285 ( building #27 on the map).
This one-day orientation is tailored specifically to meet the needs of our international student body with information on finances, academic help, health insurance, study and work permits. Most importantly, we will get to know each other and tour the campus together. There will also be an evening social event on campus as well.
Perspectives on Water, and Environmental Studies Symposium
UPEI’s Environmental Sciences program is hosting an evening symposium entitled "Currents: Regional Perspectives on Water."
Speakers:
Eliza Star Child Knockwood
Ms Knockwood will speak about Aboriginal women’s responsibility for protecting water.
Dr. Mike van den Heuvel, Director of the Canadian Rivers Institute, past Canada Research Chair in Watershed Ecological Integrity, UPEI
Dr. van den Heuvel will speak about some of the current issues related to PEI water
Jocelyne Rankin, Freshwater Coordinator, Ecology Action Centre, NS
Ms Rankin will speak about her involvement with development of a water policy in NS and lessons learned that could be applicable to PEI
Format: Each speaker will speak for 15 -20 minutes. There will be a break following the presentations for refreshments. Then there will be a panel discussion related to water issues on PEI as PEI is in the process of developing a Water Act. There will also be questions from the audience.
Display: WaterAid Canada – a non-governmental organization which works with communities in the developing world to provide clean water and improved sanitation. There will be a donation jar if anyone is interested in making a donation to WaterAid Canada.
Door Prize: There will be a basket of local products that is available as a door prize.

The UPEI Career and Summer Job Fair will take place on Thursday, March 3 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Schurman Market Square, Don and Marion McDougall Hall and is free for students.
All students are encouraged to attend with updated resumes. This is an excellent networking opportunity for students and graduates seeking employment opportunities to meet with recruiters and employers.
