Do you ever find you need two screens when working on a laptop? To quickly look at two windows side by side on a Windows computer, select a window and press the Windows Key+left arrow key to "snap" it to the left side of your screen. You can snap a different window to the other half of the screen by selecting the window and pressing the Windows Key+the right arrow. Easy.

The Healthy Campus Committee, as part of the Employee Wellness Strategy, will be providing Yoga & Fascial Release Classes for UPEI Faculty and Staff. Brenda Dowel, yoga teacher E-RYT-1000 and Licensed Holistic Practitioner will lead the four-part series of 90-minute classes with a focused approach.
1) Back & Core: Wednesdays 10:00 am - 11:30 am, March 31, April 7, 14 and 21
2) Hips & Glutes: Wednesdays 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm, March 31, April 7, 14 and 21
Two different sets of classes with an Anatomical Focus. This series will include a comprehensive approach to the entire body while focusing on a particular area for optimal health and vitality.
- Grounding; Psoas Release; Centering
- Stretching what is tight and strengthening what is weak
- Fascial Stretching and Myofascial Releases, Yoga & Conditioning Movements
- Fluid and static movements for the Fascia/Connective Tissue
- Recognizing and addressing unhealthy movement patterns
- Relaxation and Integration
The free programming is offered to UPEI staff and faculty only on a first registration basis. Towards Sustainable Island Futures for Iceland and Newfoundland and Labrador

As cold-water islands, Newfoundland and Iceland are often compared. The March session of the Institute of Island Studies Island Lecture Series features a presentation by Prof. Mark Stoddart and Dr. Ásthildur Elva Bernharðsdóttir comparing the financial crises that both islands have experienced: Iceland in 2008–2009, and Newfoundland currently. What have these experiences had in common and what lessons can they teach us?
This virtual event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. The event will be hosted on Zoom, and advance registration is required – please visit islandstudies.com/islandlectureseries-march2021 for more details and to reserve your spot.

The Moodle Quiz activity is a strong tool for running online exams. This session will be hosted on Tuesday March 30th at 2pm to provide an introduction to the quiz activity and cover the set up for a Moodle exam. UPEI’s 4th annual Teaching Community Conference will take place on May 4th, 2021, hosted by the E-Learning Office and the Experiential Education Office. The conference will be hosted online through the website: UPEI.ca/teachingcommunityconference
The keynote presentation for this year’s conference is on the theme of a Pedagogy of Care, a care-oriented approach to the design and philosophical set up of the course, occurring within the context of the learning experience and in relationships formed through teaching and learning.
The Teaching Community Conference is calling for proposals regarding your approach to a pedagogy of care, innovative designs or approaches to teaching, experiential teaching, or communities of practice.
The Teaching Community Conference is accepting proposals in the form of synchronous webinar sessions, asynchronous recorded video presentations, or written presentations (e.g. a conference blog post).

There will be a UPEI Blood Borne Pathogen training session on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm in Kelley Memorial Building Room 237
This session is for those individuals whose research involves human blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids. Prerequisites: Familiarity with some other programming language
FORTRAN, one of the initial high-level programming languages, continues to be an excellent option for high-performance computing due to its superb performance. The newer versions of FORTRAN offer many modern features, including object-oriented programming capabilities to programmers. This course will cover some of these features.
