ITSS would like to inform the UPEI campus community that the network password reset function is no longer available via the Campus Login menu. Instead, you can reset your UPEI network password by clicking on the "forgot password" link on the myUPEI sign-in page. How can I promote more class discussion? What kind of questions should I ask or activities should I set up to stimulate more student engagement? Offered by the E-Learning Office, this workshop aims to help instructors create a more engaging class environment. Attend this workshop offered on Monday, June 11th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in Room 265 of the Robertson Library. REGISTER
Beginning Tuesday May 29, the Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Thursday with only breakfast and lunch being served on Friday. Please note the hours of operation below (subject to change):
- Breakfast: 8:00AM - 9:00AM
- Lunch: 12:00PM - 1:15PM
- Dinner: 5:00PM - 6:00PM
UPEI is launching a Master in Global Affairs (MGA) this fall in partnership with the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid). This twelve-month professional program is designed for those who have completed an undergraduate degree and wish to pursue careers in diplomacy, human rights, or multilateral international institutions.
Students will complete their first semester at UPEI, and then will travel to Madrid, Strasbourg, and Geneva to complete their degree.
Anyone interested in learning more about this exciting program is invited to an information session on Thursday May 31, from 3:00-4:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge of SDU Main Building (building 5).
MGA Coordinator, Dr. Doreley Carolina Coll (dcoll@upei.ca) will provide an overview of the program and answer your questions.
Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend!
Planning has started for this year’s Safety Week to be held September 24-28, 2018.
Although safety is a constant component of our work, study, and play here at UPEI; Safety Week is a dedicated time to bring safety awareness through fun and interactive ways while providing education and training opportunities to enhance general campus safety and strengthen UPEI’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment to work, study or visit.
The Health, Safety and Environment Department is looking for the following:
- Volunteers to serve on the Safety Week Planning Committee
- Ideas for activities and/or education sessions, themes, speakers, and topics of interest for this year’s events
- Input on last year’s Safety Week that could help shape this year’s events
- Names and contact information of businesses or community organizations who would have an interest in participating in Safety Week (i.e. a booth or interactive activity at tradeshow/fair)

Due to the large interest in Emergency First Aid Training an additional date have been added for this training opportunity.
Emergency First Aid training will now be held Thursday June 7 and Tuesday June 12 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The training cost is covered by UPEI for all faculty and staff. Students who require the training for on-campus employment will also have the training cost covered. Students who do not require this training for on-campus employment are welcome to attend if space allows but they will be charged for the training.

—Power Shutdown—
There will be a power shutdown for Dalton Hall, Robertson Library, K.C. Irving Chemistry Centre, Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Duffy Science Centre, Cass Building, Chaplaincy Centre, Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall, Andrew Hall, Bernardine Hall and Blanchard Hall. The Shutdown is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 3, 2018 beginning at 5:00am and is expected to take approximately 2 hours to complete. Emergency power will not be affected.
This shutdown is necessary to complete work on the electrical power for Dalton Hall as part of the on-going renovations for this building.

Registration for the University of Prince Edward Island’s popular Faculty Development Summer Institute on Active Learning is now available. REGISTER
Here are a few important details:
• The Institute will be held from the evening of July 23rd till the evening of July 26th.
• The venue is the lovely Stanley Bridge Resort in Stanley Bridge, PEI. The Resort has set aside a block of rooms for workshop participants. If you wish to stay there, you can reserve your room by contacting the resort:

• When you reserve your room, mention that you are a participant in FDSI, and you will get a 10% discount. The Resort asks that you book your room by June 22nd at the latest.
• Registration for the workshop will be $800.00 CDN, all taxes and fees included. That fee covers all learning materials; all breakfasts and lunches plus two nutrition breaks a day; the Monday-night reception; and the Thursday-night barbeque banquet. There will be an extra charge of $50.00 for each guest you bring to the banquet. If you are interested in the optional deep-sea fishing expedition, there will also be an extra charge (which you can pay once you have arrived).
• The Resort is a beautiful old Island venue that is not, unfortunately, wheelchair accessible.
• Because there is a limit of 30 participants, please register as soon as possible and by June 15th at the latest.

Games are compelling for young and old alike. Adding game elements to your course is one way of enhancing your students' engagement. In this workshop you will learn about basic game elements and how they can be used both in online and face-to-face teaching environments. The Folklore Studies Association of Canada / L’Association canadienne d’ethnologie et de folklore will be holding its annual meeting in SDU Main Building on the University of Prince Edward Island in collaboration with the Institute of Island Studies from May 25 to 27, 2018.
This year’s theme, “Carried on the Waves: Contemporary Currents in Folklore and Ethnology / Porté par les Vagues: Courants Actuels d’Ethnologie et de Folklore,” inspires researchers to explore the flow of expression among various groups over time and place.

The Bachelor of Integrated Studies degree program is a an opportunity for adult students to earn a UPEI degree with flexibility to pursue individual interests and have prior learning recognized. High school completion is not required for entry to this program. All are welcome to attend this casual session on May, 25 at 12:00-12:40 pm in Room 210, Robertson Library. You may be eligible to receive funding for courses.

Facilities Management will be operating with limited staffing on June 5 and 6, 2018. This reduction in staff is due to training sessions taking place. Please keep these dates in mind when you are submitting work orders for event set-ups/tear downs, deliveries and regular maintenance requests. This will not affect any priority work orders that are submitted during this time.
