A high intensity interval training spin class mixed with strength training. The cycling will focus on specific work efforts alternated with recovery periods.

This 60 minute class combines a cardio cycling workout and strength training for your core. It’s about 40 minutes of cycling followed by 20 minutes of core exercise that target the abs.

Graduates: All graduates are required to rent and wear a gown and hood to their Convocation ceremony on May 7, 2016. Graduating students will need to order their gown and hood online on the Gaspard website, www.buildagrad.ca/upei by Monday, April 25, 2016. Students must order by this date to guarantee that a gown and hood will be available for them on Convocation Day.
The cost to rent convocation regalia is $25.00 + taxes (or $30 onsite). Prepaid regalia can be picked up on Friday, May 6 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and on Saturday, May 7 starting at 8:00 am at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, room 114 upon presentation of a UPEI ID and the Gaspard online confirmation form. Regalia must be returned an hour and a half following each ceremony.
Faculty: Faculty who are planning to attend Convocation may order their academic regalia also through Gaspard at www.buildagrad.ca/upeifaculty

UPEI is proud to host the first-ever UPEI Entrepreneurship Bootcamp on May 2, 3, and 4, 2016.
Designed for UPEI students and alumni, the Bootcamp will provide participants with three days of presentations, competitions, and site visits. Participants will talk with leading Island entrepreneurs, hear their stories, learn from their advice, access their business ideas, and profit from their feedback.
Open to UPEI students and alumni from all academic disciplines. 2016 graduating students will have priority. They can reserve their place by texting 902-394-2536 with their email address and BOOTCAMP in the subject line. There is no cost to attend but space is limited.

Topics to be covered include a review of basic biosafety principles, a practical approach to spill cleanup, and an update on what’s new at UPEI in the field of biosafety.

SCENT, the FDO, and the UPEIFA are pleased to host Dr. Len Findlay from the University of Saskatchewan on Wednesday, April 27, at UPEI, as the culmination of SCENT and the FDO’s semester-long focus on academic freedom, pedagogy, and curriculum. Dr. Findlay will give a public lecture entitled “Pedagogical Authority of Consumer Sovereignty? Academic Freedom and the Academic Mission” at 11:00am in MCDH 243. Free, everyone welcome.
The morning talk will be followed by a more intensive afternoon workshop, from 1:00-3:00, in MCDH 329. Dr. Findlay will lead participants through a discussion of many issues surrounding academic freedom, pedagogy, and curriculum, organized around three broad themes: 1) content; 2) delivery, and 3) ethics (see http://projects.upei.ca/scent/speaker-dr-len-findlay/ for more information on some of what these themes entail).
Please preregister for lunch (provided, at 12:30) and the workshop by the end of the day, Wednesday, April 20, so we can order enough food for participants: contact Gerald at fdo@upei.ca.

The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions -- new, renewal, or amendment -- is Friday, May 6 for the May meeting.

· Use the most current Adobe Reader to complete forms and only current forms will be accepted.
Both the signed hard copy and electronic protocol submission must be submitted by the deadline date.
· Submit one copy of original protocol with signature to AVC - North Annex, Biomedical Sciences Dept., Rm 2302
· Submit an electronic copy to animalcare@upei.ca
Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month.
The Committee requires at least one month for processing applications.

Dr. Ling will provide basic information on how to recognize and care for emergencies and injuries in dogs and cats. Topics will include primary assessment, handling an injured pet, bleeding, shock, common toxins, and recognizing signs of pain and distress.
This workshop was originally scheduled to take place in March but had to be cancelled due to bad weather.
