Renovations have recently begun on space within the K.C. Irving Chemistry
Centre. A team of contractors is converting room 128 into a collaborative
research laboratory, which will add significant research and trainee
capacity, and will allow UPEI to accommodate its growing cluster in
macromolecular sciences research.
Funding for the renovations is being provided by the Leaders Opportunity
Fund from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). The funding was
announced in the fall of 2012 by the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Canada’s
Minister of State for Science and Technology. Read the full release here:

While the contractors have been instructed that the work be executed with
the least possible interference or disturbance to the campus community, a
certain amount of disruption is inevitable. We thank you in advance for
your patience and understanding. Renovations are expected to be complete in
the fall of 2013.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jackie MacPhail at
566-6034 or jmacphail@upei.ca.
There will be an interruption of various UPEI services on Sunday, July
14 between 2:00 and 5:00 pm and lasting up to 15 minutes for each service.
This interruption will affect access to our wireless internet, email, and
the UPEI website for roughly 15 minutes.
In addition, several key services such as the University Information System,
AVC Electronic Medical Records System, HERA, and Moodle will
be affected for several minutes between 2:00 and 5:00 pm.
IT Systems and Services regrets any inconvenience this service interruption
will cause UPEI staff and faculty.

On hot days, without proper ventilation, vehicle interiors can reach deadly
temperatures in just a few minutes. Please ensure that those who are most
vulnerable are not put in jeopardy, the very young, the elderly, and family
pets.
Please share this message! (Last Thursday, good Samaritans and UPEI
Security rescued a dog that had been in a vehicle for well over an hour.)
