Kelly Clements and Salem Farag named UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 3–9 are Kelly Clements (women’s hockey) and Salem Farag (men’s soccer).

Clements, a fourth-year forward and arts student from High Bank, PEI, scored both goals in a 2-1 win over the Université de Moncton Aigle Bleues during their season opener on October 7.

The Search Committee for the Associate Vice-President Research and Dean of Graduate Studies announces an upcoming presentation by Marva Sweeney-Nixon, one of the short-listed candidates for this position. Dr. Sweeney-Nixon will deliver a Public Presentation on a Future Vision for Research and Graduate Studies at UPEI on Friday, October 7 at 2:00 pm in Andrew Hall, Room 142.

SEASON PREVIEW: UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers ready to embrace the challenges of a new era

The UPEI Women’s Hockey team is embarking on a new journey this season, and rookie head coach Sean Fisher hopes to build something special while staying true to what it means to be a Panther. 

“The group might face challenges through the start of the season, but they’ll grow and learn together, and they’ll be better for it at the end of the day,” Fisher said. 

SEASON PREVIEW: UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers poised for big things in national championship season

The 2022–23 season promises to be like no other for the UPEI Men’s Hockey program, and if the pre-season was any indication, it could be a successful one as well.

The Panthers are coming off an impressive exhibition slate that included wins against the Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Carleton Ravens, and a tough 1-0 loss against the University of Maine Black Bears, whose hockey program is known for some remarkable runs in the NCAA tournament.
