Dr. Fred Kibenge receives 2022 Springer Nature Editorial Contribution Award

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island is pleased to congratulate Dr. Fred Kibenge, professor, Department of Pathology and Microbiology, AVC, on being named one of the 2022 Springer Nature Editorial Contribution Award recipients for his work as a section editor in the Spring Nature BMC Virology Journal 

UPEI offers Mi'kmaw language course to all Indigenous community members

Starting September 7, 2022, all members of the Indigenous community on Prince Edward Island will have the opportunity to learn the Mi’kmaw language at no cost.

The UPEI Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies (IKERAS) will offer a section of the “Introduction to Mi’kmaw Language” course to Indigenous community members on and off reserve. The same course is offered as an elective to UPEI students as part of a minor in Indigenous Studies. 

UPEI Women’s Hockey adds talented defender Emily Holmes amid blue-line shuffle

UPEI Women’s Hockey head coach Sean Fisher is hoping new recruit Emily Holmes will bolster the defence after the team said goodbye to several key players at the end of last season.

The Panthers find themselves young and inexperienced along the blue line after veterans Sophie Vandale, Ally Clements, Sydney Lyndon, and Katelynn Nice graduated from the program. As it stands, the defensive corps now consists of sophomores and rookies, including Holmes, who has a chance to become an impact player from day one.

UPEI Labour Relations Update – University focuses on several key areas in proposal to UPEIFA

The University and the UPEI Faculty Association will enter into conciliation later this month, with both parties meeting with the government appointed conciliation officer. Conciliation is a normal part of the bargaining process, aimed at helping the parties achieve a negotiated collective agreement.

AVC faculty member receives recognition from the American Dairy Science Association

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island congratulates Dr. Kathryn (Katy) Proudfoot, associate professor, Department of Health Management, and director, Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre, on being named the 2022 recipient of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) Foundation’s Scholar Award in Dairy Production.  

NSO Gives Back—Food Drive in Support of the UPEI Food Bank

NSO Gives Back—Food Drive in Support of the UPEI Food Bank: Students will meet outside Dalton Hall and walk to the neighbourhood of Sherwood to collect non-perishable food items in support of the UPEI Campus Food Bank. The UPEI Panther-Mobile will escort students and help to deliver items back to campus. Thursday, September 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, starting outside Dalton Hall
