Three Master of Arts in Island Studies awarded SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship
Three students from the Master of Arts in Island Studies (MAIS) program at the University of Prince Edward Island have been awarded Canada Graduate Scholarships from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRCC) through its master’s program competition. The program is open to Canadian graduate students from across the country. This year, a total of 73 awards, valued at $17,500 each, were given out in the master’s category.
Call for papers for the LMMI’s 15th biennial international conference
The L.M. Montgomery Institute has issued a call for papers for its 15th biennial international conference, which will be held at the University of Prince Edward Island, June 22 to 26, 2022. The theme of the conference will be “L.M. Montgomery and Re-vision.”

UPEI remembers the late Ab Ferris
The University community was saddened to learn of the passing of retired accounting professor Albert “Ab” Ferris, who died on December 3 in Charlottetown. Well known for his efforts to seek out the respect of students to ensure their success, he said in a 2013 Guardian article, “If you show the students that you care and that you have an interest in their well-being, they will do everything possible not to disappoint you. It’s just such a rewarding experience to work with young people.’’
