The Robertson Library, in cooperation with UPEI President Emeritus H. Wade MacLauchlan, is offering a free download of the ebook and audiobook versions of MacLauchlan’s biography of Premier Alex B. Campbell. Alex B. Campbell: The Prince Edward Island Premier Who Rocked The Cradle tells the story of Prince Edward Island’s longest-serving premier and the youngest person elected first minister in Canada in the 20th century. 

The backfield of UPEI women’s soccer team will look vastly different now that Danielle Younker and Jennifer Balderston have completed their fifth year of eligibility. Not only are the Panthers losing all-star calibre talent, but they are losing two leaders. The door is open for rookie defender Roselyn Kushko, from Russell, Ontario, to take one of those vacant spots and cement herself as a cornerstone for the team.

The National Day of Mourning, or Workers’ Mourning Day, originated in Canada in 1984 and is now observed annually in over 100 countries on April 28 to honour the memory of those who have been injured or killed on the job. It is also an opportunity to pay respect to those who have been adversely affected by life-changing injuries or illnesses in the workplace, raise awareness about workplace safety, and renew the commitment to ensure safe and healthy workplaces exist.

Island Studies Press has published a new memoir by retired UPEI professor Hung-Min Chiang. Born and raised in tumultuous times in East Asia, Chiang survived earthquakes, wars, foreign occupation, dictatorship, and illness before making his way to Prince Edward Island. While navigating his perilous journey, Chiang learned and practiced “The Way of Water,” Daoist lessons for living drawn from nature. Home Is Where the Water Is examines the many critical turning points in life and is a perfect companion to our current crisis.

In a league driven by phenomenal guard play, the UPEI Panthers have added two more players hoping to leave their mark with the reigning AUS champions.

The decision to join UPEI was an easy one for Devon Lawlor, of Millcove, PEI. When she dons the green and white jersey for the first time, Lawlor will be a third-generation Panther.

“It’s kind of a tradition for my family,” Lawlor said. “My grandfather played for Saint Dunstan’s, and my aunt and uncle, and my parents all played for UPEI.”
