The following message was also emailed to UPEI students, faculty, and staff on January 10, 2025.
Dear UPEI Community,
You may recall that I sent a message in December to “save the dates” for several town halls during the 2025 winter semester.
You’re Invited! “Access for All UPEI” event
The UPEI campus community is invited to participate in the “Access for All UPEI” event on January 13, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, to raise awareness of and advocate for improved accessibility on campus for students.
The event is organized by students Anthonia Bebiem (Mathematical and Computational Sciences), Obed Oluwakoya (Psychology), and Luciana Quiroa Paredes (Business) in partnership with UPEI Accessibility Services and the UPEI Student Union.
“Access for All UPEI” will feature several components:
Two UPEI Men’s Hockey players and coach selected to represent Canada at FISU World Games
Two UPEI Men’s Hockey student-athletes and head coach Forbes MacPherson are headed to the international stage.
Panthers captain Kurtis Henry and assistant captain Kaleb Pearson have been selected to play with Team Canada’s hockey team at the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Games in Italy this month. MacPherson will serve as an assistant coach—his second time coaching in the FISU World Games.

Teaching Philosophy Workshop
A statement of teaching philosophy is an essential opening for most teaching dossiers: and it signals the central beliefs and practices that the rest of the dossier will demonstrate. This workshop will take participants through a variety of strategies for crafting an effective and authentic statement, after we look at examples from across disciplines. This is a writing-intensive session, so come ready to respond to a number of prompts. Participants will leave with a sound basic structure for starting or updating their teaching statements.
