You are welcome to join Island Studies for a guest lecture by Ms. Elizabeth Maclean, PhD Candidate at the University of Rhode Island. Ms. Maclean is going to speak on “The Importance of Local Ecological Knowledge in Small Scale Fisheries of the Dominican Republic." The talk starts at 10:00 am, Monday April 8 in the Faculty Lounge, Main Building.
Department of Biomedical Sciences Seminar
Join Dr. Paul Harrison on Friday, April 12 at 10:00 am in 286A North, AVC Learning Commons for a seminar entitled “The Biosynthesis of b-Lactones.”
Dr. Harrison received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford and his PhD from the University of Alberta. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University, with Dr. David Cane. He has been a faculty member at McMaster University since 1989. His research interests include chemical mimics of polyketide assembly, biosynthesis of acyltetramic acids and beta‑lactones, and twisted amides.
This seminar is free and all are welcome to attend.
Science Atlantic Guest Speaker
Sara Eisler, University of New Brunswick, Science Atlantic/CIC Speaker Tour will present seminar on Wednesday, April 10 at 12:30 pm. The presentation is entitled “Isoindolinones: a New Class of Multi-Stable Molecular Switches and Conductive Oligomers."
The seminar will be held in Room 128 in the KC Irving Chemistry Centre. All are welcome to attend.
