Echo Lau and Rebecca Apps in concert
The Prince Edward Island Registered Music Teachers' Association (PEIRMTA) recently chose two fine UPEI student musicians to represent PEI at the Annual Convention and Piano and Voice Competitions of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association (CFMTA), this year to be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from July 3 to July 5.
In preparation for their trip to Halifax, Echo and Rebecca will give a joint concert at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI Campus, on Saturday, June 29 at 7:30 pm. Tickets will be $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and all proceeds will go to help cover the expenses of the two musicians while they are in Halifax.
Clicker Response Technology Lunch and Learn
Jason Ellis, UPEI’s Turning Technologies representative will give a presentation from 12:00-1:00 pm on designing effective questions, teaching techniques and new response system developments. From 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, Jason will also be available to answer individual questions from people new to using clickers and wishing to learn more about them.

Clarinet Recital
UPEI Clarinet Professor Karem J. Simon will collaborate with organist Leo Marchildon in performance on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm at St. Dunstan’s Basilica. The program will feature several works for clarinet alone, a solo organ piece, and a transcription of Alessandro Marcello’s Oboe Concerto. Admission by donation.

A seminar with Evan O'Connor, Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, University of Toronto, will be held on Wednesday, July 3 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. The presentation is titled “Core-Collapse Supernovae: Essentials to Explosions".

A seminar with Dr. Claudiu Gradinaru, Associate Professor of Physics, University of Toronto Mississauga, Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences, will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The presentation is titled "'Fuzz' Structures: on the Role of Electrostatics in Intrinsically-disordered Proteins."
Seminar by Dr. Chris Hauton
Dr. Chris Hauton will be giving a seminar on Thursday, July 18, at 2:00 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre A.
His seminar is entitled: "Is there any scope to exploit the crustacean immune system for disease control - Have we reached a dead end and, if not, where might we go next?"
Dr. Hauton is from Ocean and Earth Science, University of Southampton.

2013 Summer Reunion Weekend begins
The St. Dunstan’s University (SDU) class of 1963 will celebrate its 50th reunion at this year’s UPEI Summer Reunion Weekend, July 24–28. Alumni who have reached special milestones will be joined by Prince of Wales College (PWC), SDU, and UPEI alumni from all years of graduation for a fun-filled “long” weekend.

29th SDU Annual Reunion Mass
As a part of the 2013 Summer Reunion there will be a reunion mass held at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall on Friday, June 26 at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Kicks for Cam
Kicks for Cam is a fundraising event at the UPEI turf and track on July 14 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm for Cameron O'Hanley. Cameron sustained serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident on Monday, June 17th and was airlifted to Halifax where he will remain for an undetermined amount of time while he recovers.
The event will include a tailgate BBQ, a silent auction, live music and soccer games.
