The Chief Justice Thane A. Campbell Lectureship in Law is co-sponsored by the University of Prince Edward Island and the Law Foundation of Prince Edward Island.The lecture series was named to honour Thane A. Campbell, Rhodes Scholar, former Premier of Prince Edward island, and first Chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island. Mary Anne Waldron, QC, Professor of Law at the University of Victoria and Associate Vice-President Faculty Relations and Academic Administration, will present the lecture entitled "Equality and Conscience: Can the Law Protect Both?"

The Wave is hosting trivia for students, staff, and faculty on the Wednesday, September 24 in support of Education Week, that will feature education-themed questions! Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to team up to see if they can walk away with prizes and, more importantly, bragging rights!
CASA 101
Are you confused about that 'CASA' thing the UPEI Student Union is always going on about? If so, join the UPEISU for an information session on Thursday, September 25 in AVC 286C North to learn a little bit about the UPEI SU's federal advocacy group, which advocates on students' behalf to the federal government. CASA impacts reach as far as student loans, mental health, and research funding. All are welcome to attend and lunch will be provided!

Information Session for JET Programme
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is a Japanese government sponsored exchange programme that offers university graduates opportunities full time jobs as either an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) team teaching with a Japanese Teacher of English in elementary and secondary schools or a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) in selected local government offices in Japan.

Presentations by Dr. Barry Smit-SSHRC Gold Medal recipient
Members of the campus community are invited to attend two presentations on September 30 by Dr. Barry Smit, SSHRC Gold Medal winner for 2013 and international leader in research on the human impacts of climate change.
Although Dr. Smit’s research area is within the social sciences, the advice and information that he will present will be applicable to any discipline. In two interactive sessions, Dr. Smit will share his expertise on the topics below.
1) Leading and Managing Interdisciplinary Teams
11:00am-12:00pm in SDU Main Building Faculty Lounge
2) Securing Research Funding & Preparing Effective Grant Applications
3:00-4:00pm in SDU Main Building Faculty Lounge, followed by a “mix and mingle” session and refreshments from 4:00-5:00pm.

East Coast Student Leadership Conference
The East Coast Student Leadership Conference is a leadership and development summit, welcoming college and university level student leaders from throughout Atlantic Canada, and beyond. This year's theme is Cultivating Leaders: It's Your Time to Grow! The conference is comprised of keynote presentations, student-led concurrent sessions, networking and brainstorming sessions, service learning experiences, and social activities, all designed to encourage growth, development, and understanding of what it truly means to be a leader.
