Implement and Design of the Canadian Swine Disease Surveillance System
Dr. Dan Hurnik, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Management, AVC will present "Implement and Design of the Canadian Swine Disease Surveillance System".
The Canadian Swine Health Board has been given the mandate to design and implement a national swine disease surveillance program. The Atlantic Veterinary College has played a role in the design together with practitioners across Canada. The design and initial findings will be presented on Thursday.

Book Launch: Methods in Epidemiologic Research
The Centre for Veterinary Epidemiologic Research and the Department of Health Management, Atlantic Veterinary College cordially invites you to join Drs. Wayne Martin, Henrick Strylin and Ian Dohoo for the launch of their textbook "Methods in Epidemiologic Research."
The book launch will be followed by a retirement reception honoring Dr. Ian Dohoo.
Seminar: Host-Parasite Interactions
The Department of Pathology & Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College invites you to attend a special seminar given by Dr. Fu-Lin E. Chu, Professor of Marine Science, Emeritus from the Department of Environmental and Aquatic Animal Health, Virginia Institute of Marine Science College of William and Mary, Gloucester Point, Virginia. Dr. Chu is an External Examiner for the PhD Thesis Defence of Victoria Savoie-Swan.
Dr. Chu's seminar is entitled "Host-Parasite Interactions: the Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum vs Perkinsus olseni and the Eastern oyster Crassostrea virginica vs Perkinsus marina " and will be on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in AVC - C Lecture theatre at 10 a.m.
Obesity in Canada: Historical Perspectives
Dr. Ellison is a historian whose work to date has revolved around "fat activist" women's groups of the 1980s in Canada. She is deeply involved in the emerging interdisciplinary field of Fat Studies. She earned her PhD from York University in Toronto, and is presently the W.P. Bell Postdoctoral Scholar at Mount Alllison University.
