Campus Notices

The University of Prince Edward Island takes the safety and security of its students, faculty, staff, and the entire campus community very seriously. As part of UPEI’s commitment to emergency preparedness and response, the Advantage Emergency Mass Notification System (EMNS) will be launched later this month. A key feature of Advantage EMNS is that it will allow UPEI to also send emergency notifications by text (SMS or email). During the week of September 25, students, faculty, and staff will receive an email with a link and instructions on how to download the Advantage EMNS “app” from their respective operating system stores. UPEI strongly encourages all members of the campus community to monitor their UPEI email inboxes and to download the Advantage EMNS “app” to keep informed on emergency incidents that may impact them. For the final phase of our migration from Novell to Microsoft, ITSS will be migrating departmental printers over the next two weeks. This process should be relatively seamless, in that your computer will continue to print to the same printer, but behind the scene, we will no longer be using Novell. In some cases, we do have to make a visit; for example if a computer has not been connected to Active Directory yet. We will have dedicated ITSS staff ready to resolve these issues.

As we migrate each department, we will provide you with more details and specific timelines when the migration will take place. We will do our best to notify departments as far in advance as possible.

Should you encounter printing issues following the migration, please contact the ITSS Helpdesk (helpdesk@upei.ca).
