The upper section of Parking Lot B will be closed on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. This closure is necessary to allow a crane to use the parking lot to place a new air handling unit on the roof of K.C. Irving Building and remove the old unit.  Facilities Management will relocate two of the jersey barriers that divides the lower section of Lot B, between the designated section and the general parking section, to enable users to access the lower section of Lot B without going through the gate.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Jackie MacPhail at jmacphail@upei.ca or 902-566-6034.

MRJ Construction will begin brick repointing on the north side of Cass Building Wednesday, June 15, 2016. This work will take approximately 4 weeks to complete (weather dependent). The work will begin at the north entrance, which will be closed while the contractor is working directly around the entrance approximately 2 weeks (weather dependent). The entrance will remain accessible for emergency use only. All grinding and dusty work will be completed during the evenings (start time of 4:00pm) and weekends. The windows in the area of the repointing will be covered and remain covered until the contractor has completed the area, this is necessary to keep the dust out of the building.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jackie MacPhail at jmacphail@upei.ca or 6034.

ITSS will be performing maintenance work on the UPEI network on

Thursday, June 9/16 at 7:00 pm.

Due to connectivity issues on the Bell Aliant end of the internet service, the changeover was not successful last week.

Monday’s postponement of the maintenance work was due to requests received from the campus community that the time of day was not suitable because of events occurring on campus.

While we recognize that scheduling an internet outage at any time of the day is not without disruption, this maintenance window is required.

ITSS regrets any inconvenience that this may cause.

Training is required to carry out these responsibilities:

By ground - A person who handles (see definition below), offers for transport, or transports dangerous goods must: (a) be adequately trained and hold a training certificate; or (b) perform those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with the regulations.

Handling - is defined as loading, unloading, or packing dangerous goods...for the purposes of, in the course of, or following transportation. (Note: it has been clarified that you do not need to have training to unpack dangerous goods that has already been received by Shipping & Receiving. WHMIS/GHS training covers this aspect.)

By air - (IATA regulations): No person may offer or accept dangerous goods for air transport unless those goods are properly classified, documented, certified, packaged, marked, labeled, and in the condition for shipment required by the IATA regulations. Training is required to carry out these responsibilities.
