Dr. Wendy Rodgers, President, and Dr. Suzanne Kresta, Dean, Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, are co-chairing UPEI's Strategic Plan Steering Committee. In this message, they invite members of the community to express interest in serving on the committee. 

The UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering—Future Urban and Energy Lab for Sustainability and the PEI Energy Corporation will host a public town hall meeting on September 25 in Georgetown, PEI to discuss the progress of the ongoing net zero assessment project.

Dr. Preston Smith, dean of the UPEI Joint Medical Doctor program, has been awarded the Dr. Michael Krochak Award for Contributions to Family Medicine by the Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians. 

For the past two seasons, the UPEI Panthers have dominated Atlantic University Field Hockey, claiming back-to-back titles. This year, the stakes are higher than ever as the Panthers look to defend their crown but also compete on the national stage for the first time since 2015.

In this message to the UPEI Community, President Wendy Rodgers invites members to a Fireside Chat, looks forward to UPEI Homecoming and upcoming strategic planning sessions, and encourages the community to build networks of support. 

The UPEI Philosophy Reading Group, facilitated by Dr. Max Schaefer, sessional instructor, Faculty of Arts, will hold its first meeting of the 2024–2025 academic year on September 25, from 7:00–8:00 pm, at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, 97 Queen Street. 

UPEI's Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies marked several milestones when it recently hosted its first-ever Indigenous traditional knowledge sharing and learning day, Mawi-lukutimk, which means “gathering and working together." 

The UPEI Panthers are looking forward to a full weekend of competition at home and away. 

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for September 9–15, 2024, are Ria Johnston (women’s rugby) and Isaac Wolters (men’s soccer).

The University of Prince Edward Island will host Research on Tap with a presentation titled “Render unto Caesar: Catholics and the Alt-Right” on Wednesday, October 2, at 6 pm, at the Upstreet Brewery Taproom, 41 Allen St., Charlottetown, PEI.
