University of Prince Edward Island Women’s Hockey Head Coach Bruce Donaldson is pleased to announce that Montreal, Quebec native Caroline Daoust has committed to the Panthers for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

For the past three seasons, Daoust was a student-athlete for CEGEP Saint Laurent Patriotes. In 21 games last season, the defenceman scored one goal and added five assists for six points.

The Wekimün School Project, a collaboration of UPEI and the Williche Council of  Chiefs of Chiloé, is entering its fifth year of improving the quality of life of Williche indigenous youth of the Los Lagos region of Chile.

| Atlantic Veterinary College

Dr. Larry Hammell, Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at the Atlantic Veterinary College, has been honoured with the 2016 Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) Merck Veterinary Award for his contributions to aquatic animal health and aquaculture industry. Dr. Hammell received the award on July 7 during the CVMA’s 2016 annual conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Congratulations, Dr. Hammell!

The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, recently announced that 45 social sciences and humanities research projects have been awarded federal funds to assess and mobilize knowledge in the areas of emerging technologies, energy, and natural resources in Canada. Among the successful projects is one by Dr. Sean Wiebe, associate professor of education at the University of Prince Edward Island.
