Applications now open for the Atlantic Veterinary College’s Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is now accepting applications for the 2024 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp (AVC Vet Camps).
The four, one-week camps are offered annually in the summer and provide an opportunity for junior high and senior high school students to learn what it is like to be a veterinarian. Participants have the opportunity to work alongside faculty, staff, students, and experts in the field during a number of hands-on activities, labs, lectures, field trips, and discussions.

Looking for a meaningful volunteer experience? Let's Talk Science Outreach is a national, community-based program connecting educators and youth with outstanding volunteers to deliver a wide variety of meaningful science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities for children as young as three years old and youth up to Grade 12.
Parks Canada in-person student recruitment
Parks Canada is hiring for the summer of 2024, and they’ll be at UPEI for some in-person student recruitment. Every summer, they offer employment options for students including work in campgrounds, interpretative centres, entrance gates, and national historic sites in a variety of positions. If you want to know more about this opportunity, you can meet with a Parks Canada representative in the Robertson Library breezeway on January 30 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
UPEI Panthers this Week (January 8–14, 2024)
The UPEI Panthers are looking forward to a full weekend of hockey, basketball, and track and field at home and away.

AWAY:
7:00 pm: The UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers (5-11-12) play the Saint Francis Xavier X-Women (13-2-2) in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The Panthers look for their first win against the X-Women.
7:00 pm: The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers (7-10-3) play the Dalhousie University Tigers (15-13-2) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Panthers are 2-1 against the Tigers this season.

Sarah Forsythe and Kamari Scott named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for January 2–7, 2024, are Sarah Forsythe (women’s hockey) and Kamari Scott (men’s basketball).
UPEI names new Director of Human Resources
The University of Prince Edward Island is glad to share the news that Kelly Drummond has been appointed the new Director of Human Resources for the University, effective February 5, 2024. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and long-term management approach for human resources at UPEI.
Island Lecture Series presentation explores coastal and ribbon development on PEI
Dr. Joshua MacFadyen, Canada Research Chair in Geospatial Humanities at UPEI, will give a lecture titled “Time Flies: An Aerial History of Coastal and Ribbon Development on Prince Edward Island” on January 23, 2024, at 7:00 pm, in the Faculty Lounge (Room 201), SDU Main Building, University of Prince Edward Island.
