Atlantic Veterinary College hosts 2022 R.G. Thomson Lecture

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island recently awarded Dr. Marina (Nina) von Keyserlingk with the 2022 R.G. Thomson Lecture.

Dr. von Keyserlingk is a professor and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada industrial research chair in the Animal Welfare Program at the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia.

Here is a look at the UPEI Panthers schedule for the week of November 7–13.

Wednesday, November 9:

7:00 pm: The UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers (5-4-1) are away in Sackville, New Brunswick, against the Mount Allison Mounties (0-10-0). This is the first meeting between the two teams.

7:00 pm: The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers (6-4-0) are away in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, against the St. Francis Xavier X-Men (4-5-0). The Panthers took the first game 5-2.

Friday, November 11:

2022 Chief Justice Thane A. Campbell Lectureship in Law to take place on November 17

Noa Mendelsohn Aviv, executive director and general counsel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA), will present the 2022 Chief Justice Thane A. Campbell Lectureship in Law on Thursday, November 17, at 12 noon, at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown.

Mendelsohn Aviv’s lecture is titled “The Icing on the Cake: on tensions between freedom of religion and equality.”

Institute of Island Studies hosts public lecture about tourism on PEI

The Institute of Island Studies at UPEI will host a public lecture titled “Enshrined: Island Tourism and the Confederation Story” on November 15 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.

Part of the Institute’s Island Lecture Series, the talk will be presented by Dr. Edward MacDonald, professor of history at UPEI. MacDonald will draw upon research that he and co-author, Dr. Alan MacEachern, undertook for their recently published book, The Summer Trade: A History of Tourism on Prince Edward Island.
