Former Mount Academy Saints trio earn spots on UPEI Women’s Hockey roster

After a successful showing at training camp, three former Mount Academy Saints—Rachel Richards, Orianna MacNeil, and Kierra St. Peter—have earned their way on to the UPEI Women’s Hockey roster.

“We all took notice of their skill, work ethic, habits, and level of play,” said head coach Sean Fisher. “Where they are at in their development is a testament to the program they come from, and the coaching Kenny MacDougall provides at the Mount Academy. I think all three will be strong U SPORTS players for the foreseeable future.”

Roselyn Kushko and Jonathan MacKenzie named UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. This week’s UPEI Panther Subway Athletes for September 26 to October 2 are Roselyn Kushko (women’s soccer) and Jonathan MacKenzie (men’s soccer).

During a home game on Sunday, October 2, centre back Kuskho led the Panthers' backline. The second-year science student from Russell, Ontario, was instrumental in keeping UNB from generating scoring chances, resulting in a 0-0 stalemate.

Treaty Day

October 1 is recognized as Treaty Day on PEI, which celebrates the continuing friendship and shared history of Islanders and the PEI Mi’kmaq and continues to affirm the commitment to advancing reconciliation.

Treaty Day in Epekwitk, the Mi'kmaw word for the place now known as PEI, recognizes the relationship between the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq and the Crown. It is a chance to raise awareness of the Peace and Friendship Treaties that still bear great significance today.
