Psychology Honours Program Information Session
Hosted by Dr. Scott Greer (Coordinator) and the Department of Psychology.
The Psychology department has recently made a number of significant changes to their Honours program. This information session will review these changes, particularly focusing on how and when a student applies to the Honours program; also discussed will be what an "Honours degree in Psychology" is, what it entails, past examples of Honours research, as well as a "question and answer" period.

Institute of Island Studies co-hosts virtual event at COP26
The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is underway in Glasgow, Scotland. UPEI’s Institute of Island Studies is co-hosting a virtual event for the conference, entitled “Climate Change and Islands” from noon until 2 pm on Thursday, November 11.
UPEI professor repeats virtual presentation about Guaranteed Basic Income
Professor Louis Doiron, Director of the Actuarial Science and Financial Mathematics programs at UPEI, will give a second virtual presentation about “The Feasibility and Costing of Implementing a Guaranteed Basic Income Program in Canada” on Wednesday, November 10, at 3:00 pm.
Paige Chisholm and Ehab Moustafa named Panther Subway Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. This week’s UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 25 to 31 are Paige Chisholm (cross country) and Ehab Moustafa (men’s soccer).
Panthers at Home, November 3 to 7
This week’s Panthers at Home is all hockey all the time, as both UPEI men’s and women’s hockey teams host games.
The men’s team plays a rare mid-week home game on Wednesday night at 7 pm against Université de Moncton.
“It is another big game for us,” said head coach Forbes MacPherson. “We are looking to rebound after a disappointing game against Acadia last weekend. It is always great to have a mid-week game to get right back into competition and push for a better outcome.”

PEI Symphony Orchestra concert features UPEI’s Dr. Dale Sorensen
An upcoming performance of the PEI Symphony Orchestra (PEISO) will feature Dr. Dale Sorensen, principal trombonist for the orchestra and an assistant professor of brass at UPEI. The PEISO will perform Antonín Dvorák’s popular Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, better known as his New World Symphony, on November 21 at 2:30 pm, at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
In addition to the New World Symphony, the program also includes Dvorák’s Carnival Overture and the seldom-played Trombone Concerto in C by Italian film composer Nino Rota.
Winter’s Tales presents PEI’s newest novelist, Olivia Robinson
Olivia Robinson was born in the Annapolis Valley and moved to PEI with her family. She blossomed as a creative writer not among the Valley’s orchards, but on the Island and at UPEI, and then at Memorial University and in Newfoundland and Labrador’s literary community.
That cultivation has yielded her debut novel, The Blue Moth Motel, from Newfoundland and Labrador’s esteemed publisher Breakwater Books. The PEI launch of her book will take place on Thursday, November 18, at 7:30 pm in The Carriage House at Beaconsfield Historic House, 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown.
UPEI names new Jeanne and J.-Louis Lévesque Research Professors in Nutrisciences and Health
The University of Prince Edward Island has named three of faculty members as the recipients of the Jeanne and J.-Louis Lévesque Research Professorships in Nutrisciences and Health. Each professorship will be supported over the next three years with an annual grant of $10,000 and up to $25,000 to permit replacement for teaching or other duties.
