UPEI closed for regular operations

The University will be closed for regular operations on Friday, July 2, 2021.

The schedule for specific departments on July 2, 2021 is as follows:

  • Security Services will continue throughout July 2, 2021.  
  • Veterinary Teaching Hospital will be available for emergency service only on July 2, 2021.
  • Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre will be open regular operating hours on July 2, 2021.
  • Diagnostic Services will be open regular operating hours with reduced staffing on July 2, 2021.  

UPEI Senate appoints five Professors Emeriti

Earlier this year, UPEI faculty and librarians were invited to nominate colleagues for appointments to the rank of Professor Emeritus. The Professor Emeritus Evaluation Committee considered all nominees and forwarded its recommendations to the University Senate.

The University Senate is pleased to announce that the following faculty members have been appointed as Professors Emeriti for 2021:

Dr. Janet Bryanton – Faculty of Nursing

Dr. Gary Conboy – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

National Indigenous Peoples Day

National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21) is a day that unites us in reflecting and recognizing the important contributions Indigenous peoples have made throughout history and throughout communities from across Canada. It is also an opportunity to listen and to learn from Indigenous Peoples, to hear their oral histories and traditions, and to reconsider the active role we all need to play to move forward.

James Voye named head coach of UPEI Women’s Rugby

UPEI has named James Voye as the head coach of UPEI Women’s Rugby. Voye is an award-winning veteran coach with experience at the high school, club, provincial, and national levels.

“We’re really pleased to make this official as James brings a wealth of rugby coaching experience at all levels,” said Jane Vessey, director of athletics and recreation for UPEI. “We are very appreciative with how he has dedicated himself to the team. The time and effort spent on player development has been impressive”.
