Join together to mark the first official National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The following message was also distributed to students, staff, and faculty via their @upei.ca emails on behalf of UPEI Student Affairs.

Dear Members of the UPEI Community,

On Thursday, September 30, UPEI will mark the first official National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, recently designated by the Government of Canada as a federal statutory holiday. This is a day for all Canadians to remember the tragic history and legacy of residential schools in our country and the intergenerational impacts they have had on First Nations and Indigenous Peoples.

SEASON PREVIEW: UPEI’s Cross Country team continues to build on foundation, as sights of podium finish become clearer

UPEI’s Cross Country team is looking to do more than just participate at meets. They’re looking to make some noise and turn some heads along the way.

Not since 2017 has a UPEI team earned a top-three finish at the AUS championship, but the student-athletes believe that this could be the year they rise in the standings and make a push toward the podium.

To do so, they’ll have to trust in their training and everything they learned over the last 18 months.

David Currie Jr. Panther Co-Educational Hockey Awards for Perseverance and Resolve presented to UPEI student-athletes

The 2021–22 David Currie Jr. Panther Co-Educational Hockey Awards for Perseverance and Resolve were recently presented to Chiara Esposito, UPEI Women’s Hockey, and Fil Rydstrom, UPEI Men’s Hockey. Each student received $5,000 for excellence on and off the ice.

Submission deadline extended for mandatory Attestation and Exemption Form

The following Message from the President was distributed to faculty and staff via their @upei.ca emails.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

It is wonderful to see so many more people on campus for the 2021 Fall Academic Semester. However, the stark reality remains, we are still in the middle of a global pandemic. We were reminded over the weekend of the need to stay vigilant when the PEI Chief Public Health Officer announced an outbreak at a Charlottetown area elementary school.

“It’s all part of supporting the next generation of workers”

Amidst a global pandemic, UPEI’s Co-operative Education program had a landmark year with its highest number of students drawn from the widest variety of academic programs securing work term placements this summer. In partnership with primarily local employers, 73 undergraduate students across three faculties were employed in roles benefitting the students’ professional development and providing employers with access to high-quality talent. The co-op program had a 100 per cent placement rate for the summer, with every student seeking a work term through the program being hired.
