The UPEI campus has a large population of crows who make their presence known. Come learn more about this intelligent, fun, and interesting bird and have any questions answered.
UPEI Safety Week Session: Verbal Engagement/Conflict Resolution

When it comes to de-escalating conflict our communication style is of paramount importance. This session provides effective skills in a simple, fun and relatable manner while focusing on environmental awareness, emotional intelligence, the QSC Verbal Strategy, nonverbal communication, negotiating and more. UPEI Safety Week Session: Fire Extinguisher Training

– presented by the Charlottetown Fire Department
The Charlottetown Fire Department will be on site to provide hands-on fire extinguisher training to anyone who stops by during this three-hour period. Drop in and get familiar with using an extinguisher properly. Everyone who takes part in this electronic simulated training will be entered into a draw to win a fire extinguisher for their home.
In the event of inclement weather, the session will be moved indoors to the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.
UPEI Safety Week Session: Yoga for Office Workers
– presented by Karen Langevin, Certified Yoga Teacher
Come experience first-hand the benefits of yoga, breathing and mindful meditation. You don't have to be flexible, bendable or have knowledgeable in yoga to participate. Karen Langevin will guide you through simple, effective stretches and movements designed for desk workers that you can do at work or at home to counteract repetitive movements and stationery postures. Do you work more than two hours at your computer without a break? Chances are you are like millions of people who feel tight, achy, and tired after a full day's work and you hardly did anything physical at all! This chair-yoga class for desk workers will get you moving, stretching, breathing, and feeling vibrant and alert during work and after work. Easy and effective stretches will get into those tight neck and shoulder muscles, ease tension in your low back, and improve your breathing and posture. Anyone can do it and all can benefit from it! This session is open to all. No need to change your clothes...come as you are. To attend, you must pre-register by contacting Kathryn Harrison by email, kharrison@upei.ca, or by phone, 902-566-0901. Soup for the Soul
All are welcome at Soup for the Soul hosted by UPEI Registrar's Office on Wednesday, October 25. Drop in anytime between 11:30 am -1:00 pm at the UPEI Chaplaincy Centre to enjoy a hearty vegetable soup, corn chowder, and biscuits.
The harvests from the SDU gardens, located at The Mount and outside of the Chaplaincy Centre, are used to supply vegetables and herbs as ingredients for the meal.

Open Access and Open Educational Resources
As part of the 10th annual International Open Access Week, the Robertson Library will offer a seminar on "Open Access and Open Educational Resources".
As Canadian copyright remains beset by churn and change, and the UPEI Library continues its efforts to keep the campus community informed on recent and pending developments relating to higher education.
This seminar will be presented by Donald Moses and Simon Lloyd in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, Rm 201.
Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon: Improving Music Articles
As part of the 10th annual International Open Access Week, the Robertson Library will host an event called "Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon: Improving Music Articles".
In coordination with the Music and Belonging Wikipedia Project, the UPEI Library invites students, faculty, and staff to improve existing music or artist articles by adding citations to existing articles.
This event will be facilitated by Rosie Le Faive in the LINC, Robertson Library, Rm 265.
Open Access & Publishing: How to Avoid Predatory Publishers
As part of the 10th annual International Open Access Week, the Robertson Library will host an event called "Open Access & Publishing: How to Avoid Predatory Publishers".
This session will introduce you to open access publishing and its business model, as well as review predatory publishing practices so that you can learn how to avoid publishing your research in a bad journal.
This session will be facilitated by Kim Mears in the LINC, Robertson Library, Rm 265.
Current trends in Open Access for Research Data Webinar
As part of the 10th annual International Open Access Week, the Robertson Library will offer a webinar on "Current trends in Open Access for Research Data".
This webinar will explore current trends in open access for research data; new funder expectations for data and a brief overview of the current tools and platforms available to help researchers share their data.
It will be presented by Erin MacPherson, Dalhousie University, Lee Wilson, Portage/ACENET and Maggie Neilson, in the LINC, Robertson Library, Rm 265.
