This year's Holiday Bootcamp offers a results-driven workout that will kick-start a positive, fitness-focused New Year. Our qualified fitness leaders will motivate you and guide you to positive results leaving you looking and feeling your the fittest and strongest ever. Classes are free for Sports Centre members. Non-members pay $9 per class (plus HST). Bring a friend and it's two for the price of one!

AVC friends and alumni invited to reception at NAVC

The North American Veterinary Conference is taking place in Orlando, Florida this year. On Sunday, January 19, Dr. Don Reynolds, Dean of the Atlantic Veterinary College, will be hosting an AVC Alumni Reception in Crystal Ballroom C at the Orlando World Centre Marriott from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Please join us for an opportunity to greet former classmates and get caught up on AVC news. Everyone is welcome.

Human Biology and Environmental Sciences Seminar

Join Catherine MacNeill, MSc-ESC, Biology, on Friday, December 6 at 12:30 pm for a seminar entitled: “Youth livelihood strategies and environmental decision-making in Cameroon.” Catherine's presentation will be followed by a seminar presented by Brendan McKeown, MSc-ESC, Biology, entitled: “Magnolol causes a Go/G1 cell cycle arrest in human prostate cancer cells in vitro.” Both presentations will be in the Duffy Science Centre, room 204. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Department of Biomedical Sciences Seminar

Join Dr. John Gordon, Professor, Division of Respiratory, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, for a seminar entitled: “The varied roles of the ELR-CXC chemokines in health and disease,” on Monday, December 9 at 2:00 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre B. Dr. Gordon received his Ph.D in Immunopathology from the University of Saskatchewan in 1984, and then did advanced training in immunopathology at Mill Hill, U.K. and Harvard Medical School. He returned to University of Saskatchewan in 1991 as an Associate Professor in Immunology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, where he studied respiratory diseases of veterinary and human importance and, more specifically, immunotherapeutics.

Science Seminar

Join Dr. Alan Denton, Department of Physics, North Dakota State University will present a seminar on Tuesday, December 10, at 11:00 am. Dr. Denton’s presentation is entitled “Multiscale Modelling of Screening and Crowding in Soft Materials.” The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre Room 212.
