Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition winner performs recital at UPEI

Cellist Brian Yoon of Victoria, British Columbia, first-prize winner of the 35th Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition will be performing at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall on Tuesday, November 6th at 7:30pm. Accompanied by pianist Eliza Ching of Houston, TX, the concert will feature the 2012 commissioned work—String Theory by John Burge. Other works to be performed are by Elizabeth Raum, Francis Poulenc, Vincent Ho, and Gary Kulesha. The Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition is the most important annual contemporary music competition for exceptional emerging Canadian performing artists in piano, voice, and strings. Since 1976, the E-Gré promotes the performance of Canadian and contemporary music of the 20th and 21st centuries and has commissioned 31 new works by leading Canadian composers. Implement and Design of the Canadian Swine Disease Surveillance System

Dr. Dan Hurnik, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Management, AVC will present "Implement and Design of the Canadian Swine Disease Surveillance System". The Canadian Swine Health Board has been given the mandate to design and implement a national swine disease surveillance program. The Atlantic Veterinary College has played a role in the design together with practitioners across Canada. The design and initial findings will be presented on Thursday. Everyone is welcome.
