The staff at the Health Centered Research Clinic at UPEI are offering a free 8 session Health Self-Management program for any UPEI Staff or Faculty.
The program will consist of 8 weekly group education sessions with a Health Promoter and Registered Dietitian (and other guest speakers) and individualized exercise sessions with a Kinesiologist (plus open gym times) located in the lower level of the Steel Building.

Title: Liouvillian solutions for Schrödinger equations with Laurent polynomial potentials
Abstract: This talk is devoted to a parametric study of Liouvillian solutions of Schrödinger equation with Laurent polynomial coefficients. This family of equations, for fixed orders at 0 and ∞ of the Laurent polynomial, is seen as an affine algebraic variety. We prove that the set of Picard-Vessiot integrable differential equations in the family is an enumerable union of algebraic subvarieties. We compute explicitly the algebraic equations of its components. Techniques include a combination of Kovacic Algorithm and Asymptotic Iteration Method (AIM). We give some applications to well known subfamilies as the doubly confluent and biconfluent Heun equations, and to the theory of algebraically solvable potentials of Shrödinger equations. Also, as an auxiliary tool, we improve a previously known criterion for second order linear differential equations to admit a polynomial solution. This is joint work with D. Blázquez-Sanz and H. Venegas-Gómez and is based on a paper recently accepted for publication in Journal of Symbolic Computation (see also https://arxiv.org/abs/2012.11795)

Ethics protocols that involve ‘more than minimal risk’ must be reviewed by the full UPEI Research Ethics Board (REB). The next deadline for submitting these protocols is Friday October 29, 2021.
Other ethics protocol submissions, including new applications that do not involve ‘more than minimal risk’, renewals, and amendments may be submitted at any time. They will be sent for delegated review as soon as all necessary forms are received.
All research compliance applications, including Research Ethics Board application forms, must be submitted through the Researcher Portal. This online system is paired with electronic approvals to replace the hard-copy signatures process.

The Concussion Awareness Program invites you to participate in our survey to better understand how we can improve the care of concussed children and young adults on PEI. This study is being led by the Concussion Awareness Program (CAP) located here at UPEI.
The goal of the CAP is to increase public awareness related to concussion injury including the steps and protocols that facilitate recovery. The findings from this survey will help us refine our strategic plan.
The survey will take approximately 30 minutes with open-ended, ranking, and classifying questions. If interested, please contact cbeck8805@upei.ca or call 902-628-4300.
The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation’s annual Symposium is on October 26-27. The George Coles Bursary for the 2021/22 academic year will be awarded to eligible students in the 2022 Winter term. Information about this bursary and a list of the eligibility criteria can be found here .
An initial list of potential student recipients will be sent to PEI Student Financial services in early November, for review of eligibility. To be included in this initial review, eligible students must ensure that:
- their Social Insurance Number is on file at UPEI
- they are enrolled in full time studies in both the 2021 Fall and 2022 Winter terms (unless graduating in the 2021/22 academic year)
- if graduating in the 2021/22 academic year, they have applied to graduate prior to generation of this list in early November
