The Environmental Studies Book Club Discussion Series will be reading and discussing "Time and a Place: An Environmental History of Prince Edward Island" (2016). Our discussions will probe into past and present environmental changes on PEI, and how and why the Islanders are particularly sensitive to environmental issues and enmeshed in their landscape in a way that is unique among Canadians.
During our second discussion, we will talk about energy transitions in PEI history and will focus on the chapter by Kathleen Stuart: “Two centuries of energy on Prince Edward Island.” Those interested in more information about the province’s energy policies in the 1973-1990 period can also read the book by Alan MacEachern "The Institute of Man and Resources: An Environmental Fable" (2003).
We are thrilled that the authors and editors of these books, Ms. Kathleen Stuart, Dr. Alan MacEachern, and Dr. Josh MacFadyen, will join our discussion.

IT Systems & Services would like to take this opportunity to share some best practices with regards to the update process on your Windows computer:
1. Please never turn off a computer that is in the process of applying an update.
2. Please frequently save your work, as updates will require your PC to restart.
3. At the end of the work day, log-off or lock your computer instead of shutting down. This will allow updates to be installed while you are out of the office. If you are concerned about power consumption, the computer's power management settings will minimize power usage during this time.
4. When new updates have been installed, you will be prompted to restart your computer. This can be done at any time that is convenient for you, such as over your lunch break or when you leave at the end of the day.
If you have any questions or issues, please contact the ITSS Help Desk at helpdesk@upei.ca or 902-566-0465.
