Taylor Gillis and Jonah Capriotti named UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for January 2–8 are Taylor Gillis (women’s hockey) and Jonah Capriotti (men’s hockey).
UPEI appoints new associate vice-president research and dean of graduate studies
Dr. Marva Sweeney-Nixon, professor of biology, has been appointed associate vice-president research and dean of graduate studies at UPEI, effective January 1, 2023.
Applications now open for the Atlantic Veterinary College’s Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is now accepting applications for the 2023 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp (AVC Vet Camps).
The four, one-week camps are offered annually in the summer and provide an opportunity for junior high and senior high school students to learn what it is like to be a veterinarian. Participants have the opportunity to work alongside faculty, staff, students, and experts in the field during a number of hands-on activities, labs, lectures, field trips, and discussions.
Startup Zone tour for computer science students
UPEI students majoring in computer science are invited to join Startup Zone on January 19 at 3 pm at their office at 31 Queen Street, Charlottetown, to learn about their resident companies and programs.
Registration is required through our Eventbrite page, and space is limited to 25. Only UPEI computer science majors are eligible to attend. An email will be sent to all registrants to confirm their spots. Registrants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Startup Zone.

It was a morning of mixed emotions at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), as the AVC’s Wildlife Service prepared to bring bald eagle 450, otherwise known as “Buddy,” to his new home at Hope for Wildlife.
Virtual Information Session: "Starting at UPEI this semester? Here's everything about your courses you need to know!"
The UPEI International Student Office is hosting a virtual information session (on Zoom) for those new students starting at UPEI in January.
Hosted by First Year Adviser and Recruiter, Chloe Arlapen, attendees will receive information regarding how to register for courses, course waitlists, how to adjust or switch your courses, and how to use Moodle.

UPEI Women's Hockey Panthers Exhibition Game
The UPEI Women's Hockey Panthers will host an exhibition game at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, January 4 against the St. Thomas University Tommies at MacLauchlan Arena.
