AVC Fall Awards and Recognition Night

The Atlantic Veterinary College at UPEI will hold its annual Fall Awards and Recognition Night ceremony on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:00 pm in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons. AVC’s Fall Awards and Recognition Night provides the opportunity to recognize the hard work of the College’s doctor of veterinary medicine students to succeed in their demanding studies. It also acknowledges donors, award presenters and supporters of AVC who have come from throughout Atlantic Canada to celebrate and recognize student and faculty achievement.

Opera Recital: Nathan Keoughan

Bass-baritone Nathan Keoughan returns to perform at his alma mater on Saturday, October 5th at 7:30 pm in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI. Nathan is thrilled to be back at UPEI, for his first recital as a guest artist. In collaboration with pianist Frances McBurnie, Nathan will perform a collection of song cycles by Ibert, Finzi and Wolf as well as a selection of opera arias and show tunes. Admission at the door: $15 adults, $10 seniors and students.

Health Career Showcase

Are you a science student? Are you interested in a career in the health care profession? Come and join local health professionals to learn more about health careers on Prince Edward Island. This showcase is open to all science students, and will include over 25 professionals working in various health related industries, such as dentistry, nursing, cancer care, clinical laboratory science, mental health and community services. A light lunch will be provided.

Athletics and Recreation Open House

UPEI Athletics and Recreation Department will have an Open House for students, staff, faculty, and community members on October 3, 11:00 am–2:00 pm. The open house will showcase our varsity athletes, tours of the facility, our Panther Sports Medicine Clinic, as well as allow visitors to participate in a FREE 20 minute ZUMBA class, register for intramural programs, and learn more about the services the Sports Centre offers. There will also be a free Athletic Strength n' Cardio Circuit class from 11:15 am–Noon, and an Athletic Strength Circuit class from 1:15–2:00 pm. For those who are new to fitness and new to the UPEI Fitness Centre, take this time to meet with a trainer to go over the basics of fitness, learn proper technique, check out all of our fitness programs and tour the gym facility. Membership has its benefits. Come out and see what we have to offer!

Chemistry Seminar

Dr. Alan Doucette, Department of Chemistry, Dalhousie University will present a seminar on Wednesday, October 2 at 12:30 pm. Dr. Doucette’s presentation is entitled "From cells to Excel: Improved technologies for proteome processing and characterization." The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre Room 212.
