An updated version of the UPEI Tobacco-use policy went into effect on September 1, 2017. This is a reminder that tobacco products are not to be used on University property. For more information regarding campus boundaries or cessation supports and services, please click here.
Thanks to everyone for respecting these changes on the UPEI campus during the Fall 2017 semester—together we helped to ensure a healthy and accessible campus for everyone at UPEI.
Please note that certain parking spaces in the "Visitor Metered" parking lot between the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre and Steel Building will be reserved every Tuesday and Thursday (and some Mondays) from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
The metres at these parking spaces will be marked with covers to ensure participants in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs who have limited mobility can easily and safely access Steel Building.
Please refrain from parking in these spaces, as enforcement action including towing will be immediate.
Applications for 2018 Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Graduate Scholarship will be accepted until 12:00 noon (AST) Friday, February 16, 2018, with decisions to be announced in April.
Call for applications from potential graduate students for the 2018 Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Graduate Scholarship. The Scholarship will support the training of researchers at the masters or doctoral level to pursue animal welfare research at the University of Prince Edward Island. Both applied or more fundamental approaches to research pertaining to animal welfare are welcome.
Students may take up their award at any time of the year but must do so within twelve months of the date of the letter of offer. Click here for more information.

The UPEI Multicultural Song Circle meets every Tuesday in SDU Main Building Faculty Lounge from 4:30 - 5:30. This is a non-audition singing group that shares songs of the many cultures and countries on the UPEI campus for fun, friendship,relaxation, and music-making.
All students, staff, faculty and community are welcome. Come when you can!
Join us in January for Robertson Library Movie Talks. Each week will highlight a timely movie available through the Library’s video collections. There will be a discussion after each movie led by an interdisciplinary panel of UPEI faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Our next documentary, UnSlut: A Documentary Film, “features conversations with those who have experienced sexual shaming, including the family and friends of Rehtaeh Parsons”, and will be presented on Monday, January 29, Robertson Library LINC, Room 265, 7:00-9:00 pm. The panelists for UnSlut: A Documentary Film are Ann Braithwaite, PhD and Nia Phillips, PhD.

The UPEI Health, Safety and Environment Department has an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) that can be borrowed/signed out for large gatherings, conferences, athletic events, etc. on campus if an AED is not in close proximity to the event location.

There will be a UPEI basic biosafety training session Friday, February 9, 2018 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the AVC, Rm 287N.
Topics to be covered include: basic biosafety principles and how they are applied at the University of Prince Edward Island, as well as biosecurity training. This session is open to everyone including graduate students.
To attend the basic biosafety course, you must pre-register by contacting Kathryn Harrison, before February 5, 2018 at kharrison@upei.ca or 902-566-0901.

Please note: those who have not attended a training session since 2014 are currently due for the Biosafety Refresher Course.

This session is required for those who attended the Basic Biosafety course in 2014 or earlier. It is not a substitute for Basic Biosafety. Topics to be covered include: a review of basic biosafety principles, a practical approach to spill cleanup, and an update on what’s new at UPEI in the field of biosafety.

Date Change for Power Shutdown
There will be a power shutdown for Dalton Hall, Robertson Library, K.C. Irving Building, Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Duffy Science Centre, Cass Building, Chaplaincy Centre, Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall, Andrew Hall, Bernardine Hall and Blanchard Hall. The Shutdown is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 28 beginning at 6:00 am and is expected to take approximately 2 hours to complete. Emergency power will not be affected.
This shutdown is necessary to complete work on the electrical transformer at the exterior of Dalton Hall as part of the on-going renovations for this building.

Staff and faculty are invited to join the UPEI Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams for Bell Let’s Talk Night, Saturday, January 27. The Panthers are hosting Cape Breton University. The women’s game starts at 6:00 pm. The men tip off at 8:00 pm.

Announcing a new course-based Master's in Island Tourism at UPEI, starting in August 2018. This is your opportunity to obtain a graduate degree in the expanding field of tourism, applied specifically to islands. Using primarily online courses for your convenience, this two-year program incorporates two work-study courses working directly with tourism organizations.
Scholarships and bursaries are available.
