Emma MacLean and Ben McFarlane named UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for September 30–October 5 are Emma MacLean (women’s rugby) and Ben McFarlane (men’s hockey).
MacLean is a fifth-year business student from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. She was unstoppable in the October 4 matchup against the Saint Mary’s University Huskies, scoring three tries in a dominant 72-0 win.
UPEI researchers awarded over $1.7 million in federal funding
Researchers at the University of Prince Edward Island have been awarded over $1.7 million in federal funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

The UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers are hungry for playoff success this year, and they have the determination and focus to get there.
Last year, they missed the playoffs by a single point, but that loss lit a fire under the team.
For head coach Sean Fisher, it reinforced both the team’s potential and the importance of consistent execution.

Join UPEI President Wendy Rodgers for her casual "coffee chat" this Thursday, October 9 in The Fox and Crow at the W.A.
