We have a limited number of fitness training subsidies for UPEI staff/faculty (current employees) and UPEI full-time students (current). Applications are on a first come first serve basis. There are only a limited number of subsidies, so apply quickly. The subsidies can be applied towards specialty fitness classes and/or cycle classes or small group training. $75 subsidy credit towards cost of program. Be a joiner! Group fitness classes will keep you consistent with your commitment to exercise. There is a format and an instructor for everybody!

Sports Centre membership classes include PiYo, HIIT, Core Strong, Zumba, etc. Classes will start the week of September 10, 2018. Membership classes are FREE for full-time UPEI students and Sports Centre members. Non-members: $6 + hst/class drop-in fee.

Specialty Fitness Classes - We have a variety of Specialty Fitness Classes including Yoga, AcroYoga, Pilates and Kettlebells. 

Twelve classes/session program fee: Sports Centre members $80 + hst , Non - members $91 + hst. Payment required at the time of registration. Drop in's $10+hst. Each program 12 classes beginning week of September 17.

Cycle Fitness Classes - Cycle Fit and Cycle 'n Abs with Bernadette and Brittany! We've added a couple more cycle classes. Check out the new schedule!

No crowd here in semi-private fitness training sessions in private studio. Come together and share the benefits of working with a Certified Personal Trainer while engaging in some fun and social physical activity.

UPEI CAP Team is hosting a Chalk and Talk event to increase awareness of concussion injuries. Children of all ages are encouraged to stop by and express what concussions mean to them in artistic chalk drawings. The CAP Team of researchers will be present to provide handouts and info on concussion injuries. The event runs from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm on Wednesday, August 29 in front of the W. A. Murphy Student Centre. 

NSO Leaders will be running around campus on August 31 from 9:00 to 9:30 am collecting change as a head start for their Panthers for Change fundraiser. If you are hoping to donate, please make sure to have change on-hand!

UPEI will hold a test of the campus-wide emergency notification system on Wednesday, August 29 at 2:00 pm for approximately 15 minutes. During this time, most campus screens and UPEI website pages will show a banner stating this is only a test of the emergency system. 

In the event of a real emergency, the banner will display important information for students, staff and faculty.

 

Please plan to attend this year's Let's Talk Teaching Day, which will be held from 1:00-5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 4 in HSB 104. Join in on discussions about indigenizing the curriculum and decolonizing the academy; our new Academic Integrity Portal; and what's happening with Experiential Education at UPEI. UPEI and Science Atlantic are working together to help UPEI become the first university in Atlantic Canada with a comprehensive listing of their research infrastructure in the Atlantic Facilities and Research Infrastructure Database (AFRED). The Atlantic Veterinary College's Summer Research and Leadership Program invites the UPEI community and the public to attend poster presentations on Monday, August 27th from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in the AVC McCain Foundaition Learning Commons atrium. Our program is designed to introduce our veterinary students to careers in research by incorporating a summer research project with a faculty mentor, along with weekly lectures and a poster presentation.

The students will be available to answer questions regarding their poster and research project.
Everyone is welcome.

The Office of the Vice-President Administration and Finance wishes to inform the University community that the Board of Governors has approved a new Conflict of Interest Policy.  The purpose of this policy is to define conflicts of interest at the University and establish procedures to effectively address and manage them. 

All members of the university community, including faculty and staff, have an obligation to declare any conflicts of interest in accordance with the policy.  Please keep in mind that a conflict of interest can be actual, perceived, or foreseeable; when in doubt, seek guidance from your conflict officer as outlined in the policy.

The Robertson Library is hosting an exhibit of small works of mixed-media/collage on the theme of Sailing by Louise Mould. You are invited to the opening of the exhibit at the Robertson Library on Sunday August 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The exhibit will be on display until September 21, 2018.
